I started Opulent Risk because I got tired of watching clients overpay, under-insure, and get let down at claim time — by brokers who were more focused on the path of least resistance than on actually doing the job well. This agency exists to do it differently.
I've spent 13 years in property and casualty insurance — long enough to understand what separates a policy that actually protects you from one that just looks good on paper until you have a claim.
Most of that time was spent watching the same patterns repeat. Contractors paying 15% more on workers comp than they should because nobody ever audited their classifications. High net worth families insured through carriers that weren't built for their risk. Business owners auto-renewing policies year after year with nobody in their corner actually reviewing the coverage.
I built Opulent Risk to be the kind of broker I always wanted my clients to have — someone who knows the technical side cold, who has access to the right markets, and who treats every account like it matters. Because it does.
Being independent was non-negotiable. I never wanted to be in a position where the right answer for a client conflicted with what my employer wanted me to sell. Independence means I work for you — full stop.
The name reflects the caliber of service and expertise we bring — not a price point. Whether you're a 10-person framing contractor or a family with a $5 million home in La Jolla, you deserve expert, independent advocacy on your coverage.
We're local — not a national call center or an out-of-state brokerage with a San Diego address. North San Diego County is our market and our community. We know the risks here because we live here.
Opulent Risk opened its doors in June 2024 — built from the ground up as an independent agency focused on two areas where deep expertise creates real value: commercial insurance for businesses and contractors, and private client coverage for high net worth families.
There are a lot of insurance licenses. There are far fewer brokers who've done the work to earn the industry's most respected designations. The CPCU and CIC aren't marketing credentials — they represent hundreds of hours of coursework, exams, and applied expertise in property and casualty insurance.
The highest professional designation in the property and casualty insurance industry. The CPCU program covers risk management, insurance operations, commercial and personal lines, financial analysis, and ethics — at a depth that most continuing education courses never reach. Administered by The Institutes, the CPCU requires passing eight rigorous exams and meeting experience requirements.
The CIC designation demonstrates advanced expertise in commercial lines, personal lines, agency management, and risk management. Administered by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, the CIC requires completing five rigorous institutes and passing exams in each — with annual update requirements to maintain the designation.
Not just hand you a dec page and move on. If your broker can't walk you through your coverage, exclusions, and limits in plain language — that's a problem. I can, and I do, for every client.
Renewing your policy without reviewing it isn't service — it's just collecting a commission. Every account I manage gets a real annual review. Classifications get checked, limits get evaluated, and the market gets tested when it makes sense.
I'm appointed with multiple carriers and have zero incentive to steer you toward any one of them. The best carrier for your risk is the one I recommend — not the one paying the highest override or the one easiest to place.
Anyone can sell a policy. What matters is what happens when you have a loss. I stay involved through the claims process — not as a bystander, but as your advocate making sure the carrier holds up their end of the contract.

North San Diego County has a specific risk landscape — and I mean that literally. Wildfire exposure in the inland communities. Coastal erosion and salt air on the bluffs. A dense contractor market building out some of the most active development corridors in Southern California. A growing professional class of biotech, tech, and finance professionals with complex personal insurance needs.
I understand this market because I'm in it every day — working with contractors in Vista and San Marcos, families in La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe, and businesses up and down the North County corridor.
We're not a national brokerage with a local office. We're a local broker with deep expertise and the carrier access and credentials to compete with anyone in the market.
No call centers. No junior account managers. Just a CPCU-credentialed broker who knows your market and works for you.
